Functionally, these units house and care for patients who are preparing for or recovering from medical and surgical interventions. While you will have a home unit, we cross-train our nurses between the various specialties to provide a strong foundational knowledge of all types of patient conditions, comorbidities, procedures, etc. Whether you are a new grad nurse looking to build a strong base before launching into your future career/educational plans or an experienced nurse who enjoys variety in their every day work, Med Surg is the place for you!Observation Unit Details:Patient Population: widest variety of patient populations from cardiac patients to osteomyelitisGreat unit for a new grad who is hesitant to jump into higher acuity!Nurse to Patient Ratio: 6:1# of Beds: 18UAP to patient ratio: 9:1Qualifications:Required Education:Graduated from a school of nursing (Associate's Degree, Diploma, or BSN).Licensure: Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining, a current RN license within the hiring state and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements.Certifications:Must have American Heart Association Healthcare Provider card or complete a course within probationary period.
